Efficiency % = actual throughput ÷ target throughput × 100.

Tip: Keep “Actual Throughput” and “Target Throughput” on the same basis (period, units, and population) before calculating Throughput Efficiency.

The Formula

Throughput Efficiency
Efficiency % = (Actual throughput ÷ Target throughput) × 100

Worked Example

Scenario: Actual 920 units/hour; target 1,000 units/hour.
Step 1: 920 ÷ 1000 = 0.92
Step 2: × 100 = 92%
Answer: Throughput efficiency is 92%.
