Embed Policy

Last Updated: June 1, 2026

Free for publishers: Embed any calculator using the official Embed Code on each tool page. Keep the credit links visible below the iframe. See also our Terms of Service (Section 3.3).

1. Why embed our calculators?

  • For your readers: Interactive tools without sending their numbers to a third-party server — calculations run in the browser.
  • For your site: Useful utility content that increases time on page and complements articles (finance, QA, education, ops).
  • For us: Referral traffic and fair credit when you link back with descriptive anchor text.

2. How to embed (3 steps)

  1. Open any calculator on PercentageCalculatorFree.com.
  2. Click </> Embed Code under the form inputs.
  3. Copy the full snippet (iframe + credit paragraph) and paste it into your page HTML.

Example live embed URL format:

https://percentagecalculatorfree.com/calculators/business/tip-calculator.html?embed=1

3. Attribution requirements (required for free use)

The copied embed code includes a credit block outside the iframe. You must keep it:

  • Visible — not hidden with CSS, zero-height containers, or off-screen placement.
  • Linked — both the calculator-specific link and the PercentageCalculatorFree.com brand link must remain clickable.
  • On the same page as the iframe — do not move credits to a separate legal page only.
  • Unmodified — do not swap our URLs for redirects or strip UTM parameters we add for aggregate analytics.
SEO note: Links inside the iframe do not count as backlinks on your domain. The credit paragraph on your page is what creates the editorial link to us — and helps your users find the full calculator with explanations.

4. SEO & link-building best practices

  • Use the default anchor text from our embed snippet (includes the calculator name).
  • Keep the optional Related links in the embed snippet — they add topical internal links on your page.
  • Place the widget near relevant content (e.g. defect density calculator in a QA metrics article).
  • Do not add rel="nofollow" to our credit links unless your site applies it to all outbound links by policy.
  • One embed per logical section — avoid duplicating the same iframe many times on one URL.
  • Prefer embedding the most specific calculator for the topic (better UX and relevance).

4a. Related calculator links (recommended)

The official embed snippet may include up to three related calculator links below the credit line. They are optional for publishers but recommended for readers and SEO.

  • Outside the iframe (in the copied HTML) — best for backlinks and discovery on the host page.
  • Inside the iframe (?embed=1) — compact “Related” row for click-through traffic when users interact with the widget.

Related tools are chosen automatically from the same topical cluster as the embedded calculator (e.g. QA metrics near Defect Density).

4b. Auto-resize, theme & oEmbed

Official embed snippets include auto-resize: the calculator inside the iframe sends its height to the parent page (via postMessage) when users calculate, reset, or when related links load — typically between 280px and 960px.

Theme — append theme=light, theme=dark, or theme=auto to the iframe URL (or use the Embed Code panel radios). In embed mode we ignore the visitor's saved site theme and follow this parameter instead.

Compact loader (recommended) — the default snippet is two lines: a hosted script at /js/dist/embed-loader.min.js that injects the iframe, required credit links, and resize listener on your page. Publishers who strip outer HTML still get in-iframe branding; the loader helps keep attribution on the host page.

oEmbed endpoint (for CMS auto-embed):

GET https://percentagecalculatorfree.com/oembed?url={calculator-page-url}&format=json&theme=auto

Optional: layout=standard returns full iframe HTML instead of the compact loader. theme=light|dark|auto sets embed appearance.

Calculator pages include a discovery link in <head>:

<link rel="alternate" type="application/json+oembed" href="…">

WordPress and other oEmbed-aware editors can paste a calculator URL and receive the iframe + attribution HTML automatically. Attribution rules in Section 4 still apply.

5. Outreach email template

Copy and customize this when offering a calculator to a blog, course, or documentation site:

Subject: Free embeddable [Calculator Name] for your [article/guide] readers Hi [Name], I noticed your [post/page] on [topic]. We maintain a free, client-side [Calculator Name] at PercentageCalculatorFree.com — readers can use it without sending data to our servers. You're welcome to embed it on your site. Paste the code from the calculator page (Embed Code button). Please keep the credit line below the widget — that's our only requirement for free use. The snippet may also include optional "Related" calculator links; keeping those helps your readers find complementary tools. Embed policy: https://percentagecalculatorfree.com/embed-policy Direct tool: [paste calculator URL] Happy to suggest the best calculator for your audience if another fit is better. Best, [Your name]

6. How we measure embed traffic (GA4)

Credit, related, and iframe links include UTM parameters (utm_source=embed, mediums such as widget, widget_related, iframe_related) so we can see aggregate referral performance in Google Analytics — not individual users' calculation inputs.

In GA4 (our property):

  • Explore → filter Session source = embed, or
  • Reports → Engagement → Events → event name embed_referral

This helps us improve popular tools and prioritize maintenance. It does not change your privacy obligations to your own visitors.

7. Prohibited uses

  • Removing or hiding attribution
  • Repackaging our iframe inside another iframe to obscure the source
  • Implying we endorse your product without written permission
  • Automated bulk embedding without contextual content (thin affiliate-style pages)
  • Modifying calculator URLs to bypass embed mode while presenting as our official widget

We may request removal or block embeds that violate this policy. See Terms of Service Section 3.3.

8. White-label & custom licensing

Embed FAQ

Do I need permission to embed?

Not for standard free embeds — use the official snippet and keep attribution visible. Custom or white-label use requires contact.

Why must credits stay outside the iframe?

The iframe loads content from our domain. A link on your page is what connects your article to our tool for users and search engines.

Can I restyle the credit line?

Minor typography/spacing to match your theme is fine. Do not hide links, remove them, or replace linked text with plain text.
